Ah, I know that area....well, I'm learning about it as I go.  I spent some of last weekend around Windsurf Bay Park as well, which is close to where we may be buying :)

Hey @Jon Klaus, thanks for the welcome - I appreciate it.

We're in the process of buying in Garland, not far from the lake.  Still under negotiations on a couple of things on the property so we'll see how it goes.  I see you're from Garland yourself? :)

Hey @Byron J., welcome from another newbie to BP - I'm in the process of moving to DFW from Athens, so not too far from you - I pass by on 175 heading to Dallas frequently.

I'll second @Michael Delpier, the how to guides and pod casts are great motivators :)

Hey @Hattie Dizmond

Thanks for taking the time to reply, that's very kind you - I really appreciate it :)

I will definitely check out those three RE clubs and see when I can get over to them - I've tracked down their websites.  For anyone else in the area who is a newbie like me the links are below to save you time.

I'll definitely be in touch by PM - thanks again Hattie

Hey everyone!

I'm Chris and I'm a complete newcomer to real estate investing and found this website by, you guessed it, Googling for beginners REI resources which lead me to the UBG.

I'm in the process right now of relocating to DFW from just a couple hours south of the metro. Although I co-own and manage a Texas based website / web software design business and have been an entrepreneur for 20 years, I have a long-standing goal of growing an REI business.

I'm in the process of determining what type of REI to get into, but hold and rent SFHs or MFHs really appeal to me - multi-family more than SFH. I'm ruling nothing out as I learn though...

At the moment that's my focus - I am learning, learning, learning. I'm reading the forums, listening to the podcasts every moment I get, reading REI & related books (just wrapped up Rich Dad / Poor Dad and am deep into Getting Things Done). I'm also preparing to build out my team (lawyer, CPA, contractors etc), and preparing to setup our structures and processes.

My next steps are to find a real estate investment club/group in the Dallas / Fort Worth area so I can get some experience on the ground as I'm not yet familiar enough with the area.  I expect I'll be spending a ton of time driving around too just to get a feel for the area.

So that's me!  My first question to everyone - can you recommend a real estate investing group / meetup in the DFW area?

Great to 'meet' you all! :)

Thanks Joshua  Oh sure, it does - to me too.  Then it goes and claims I'm unverified again using the same login after a couple days (and can't post to the forum to report it, hah!).  I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can get more information somehow if it comes up again.  Thanks both!

Hey @Brandon Turner, that would be amazing - thanks so much! :)

Please let me know if this needs to be moved / posted elsewhere and I'll get right on it, thanks!

I've been registered here for a couple of weeks, and have verified my email address (even get the confirmation message on screen that I have).  However, every few days or so when I return I get the 'please verify your email' error again, and I repeat the process all over.  Then a few days later I'm asked to verify again.  Including just today.

I'm certain I'm verifying correctly, right through to getting the confirmation message.  I'm not changing my email address or even making any major changes to my profile.  It feels like there's a glitch somewhere in the site software that resets my verification status periodically.

Can anyone help, is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks in advance everyone :)
