Post: SF as a first investment?

@Jeremy Wirths initially my plan is to renovate and then rent out rooms for the weekend etc. (looking in Maine at the moment- thinking skiing or hiking travelers). Once I build a bit of equity, I want to look into a multi family investment and stay in the SF. I’m looking to spend less than $95k on the house itself, keeping monthly payments low so I can renovate as I go.

I’ve been thinking about investing in my own single family home. Initially, I was leaning towards a multi family, but if I do a SF I can cut my monthly payment in half with the budget I want to stick within.

My question is: is a single family a good investment, even if it’s not in a prime location? (I can work remote, so NH, ME or VT). I’m feel investing in something I own is better than paying rent to someone else, and could use it as leverage to get a multi family in a few years. Thoughts?

Hi! I am wondering about the best first step in getting started. I've been reading through the BP books, reading forums, etc. but I am still not sure what my first step should be.

I need to find partners to invest, as I don't have a lot of money to put into it myself but I do have time. Making those connections, networking, etc in order to find the money for my first deal is my biggest hurdle so I thought I would address it first. What are the best ways you've sene in terms of networking? Should I invest in starting a local meetup group? Should I buy business cards to hand out? Should I just wait it out another year while working to pay off some debt and save up a bit myself?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Everyone! My name is Courtney. I am just getting started in my research for real estate investing, but I want to build my real estate portfolio and live untethered to a 9-5 working for someone else.

I've previously had my real estate license, and I am looking to renew it in the coming months. I am very new to investing in real estate and am looking for all the guidance I can get. I've ordered the BP books and have been listening to the podcast, and hope to get started in the next year. I currently have some debt that is holding me back from saving to invest, so finding ways to break into the market with lower cash down/OPM is my current goal in finding my first property.

I would love to connect with more investors in my area, please feel free to reach out if you are in the Mansfield/Foxboro area and want to meet up for a cup of coffee (my treat!).
