Post: RETipster or Land Academy- which is better?

Hi all-

I’ve had fair experience in buying and managing rentals, but am looking to move into a simpler business model in land investing.

With that in mind- there are two particular courses that seem most compelling: RETipster and Land Academy. If you’ve taken either or both- what are your thoughts?

Any compelling strengths or weaknesses to either program? How do they compare in giving the tools to get effectively started? What about ongoing resources and community to work with after the course?

Thanks all!

Sure, and it may be worthwhile to be creative with your locations if you have that many. Example: near grocery store parking areas, in some of the adjacent smaller towns like Muncy  and Hughesville. While I live in NYS, I still get down To Williamsport fairly often. From personal experience, I've found that they work better on the right side (so not across on the other side of the street, and near stop signs or lights, where someone will have a better chance of reading it. Good luck and happy investing.

I this a big red flag or big untapped opportunity?

Hey Michael, I've actually posted some signs in the Williamsport area, but it was a couple of years ago. Most of them seemed to come down within a week or so of time, and at least on the South Williamsport Side, I did receive a call from codes. If you're not one to particularly get upset about codes calling, you can always set up a google voice number, with a voicemail of just your first name. Your signs may still get pulled down, but the codes isn't likely to actually come give you a fine, they may just take it down.

@Antoine Martel-   a sample is probably a good idea. I figure that almost all of our flooring is made in China anyway, so I'm wondering if I can cut out the various middlemen and buy directly from the manufacturer.

Hey BP!

Has anyone out there ordered bulk flooring from Alibaba? Our business is replacing 1-2000 sq feet of flooring per month in our rentals. I'm trying to find something more durable than carpet (seems to only last a few years) and am turned off by pricing on vinyl plank. However, it seems I can buy a shipping container of vinyl plank flooring direct from China at a significant discount. Have you ever ordered bulk materials from there? If so, what should I know when ordering directly from the suppliers? Recommended, or no?

Thanks!

This way we have time to find the owners information, prepare mailers and send it out. Also, we do cold calling every day. Nothing crazy - one call per day.

Andy- what resources did you use to create your listing of parks in PA?  Did you work with county assessor's offices, or from an  internet based resource?

Hey @Victor Cano

Hopefully the contact Thomas gave you works out well. If not, the person i use most locally is George Schambach, with Professional Home Inspection. He's super thorough, and can tailor his report for investors (ie-  just check foundation, roof, electrical, etc)- or can do a fully written report. His website is : http://www.professionalhome.com/

good luck!
