@Scott Mac My partner asks as if he is in the dark about who is the actual tenant. I will take your advice as well. Thank you for your response

@Bill Brandt My partner self manages and does not use a property manager. I like the idea of making the insurance the bad guys. I had that concern that potentially illegal activities could be happening and I’m in the dark. Thank you for your response

Hello BP I need some advice I purchased a property from my contractor/partner. He told me that he already had a tenant lined up to rent the house too. It is one of the guys who works for him. My partner vouched for this guy so I agreed. My partner put the lease agreement in his company name not my company name and he collected the rent and deposit from the tenant. He provided me with the lease agreement, copies of the tenants license and receipts from rent and deposit. He never provided a phone number nor email address ( he still hasn’t and I have asked since November) I sent a letter to the address on the license asking tenant to contact me which has not happened. I have been receiving the rent via my partner. I have been working out of town and was home for the weekend. I went by the property knocked on the door and asked who was living there. A young man around 15 answered the door and gave a totally different name from the tenants who were supposedly living there. I called my partner who told me that he wasn’t aware of those people either. He told me not to worry about it unless I stop getting the rent. I am very uncomfortable with this situation!! 1. Am I overreacting ?2. What would you do in this situation? 3. Legally and financially how can this impact me?

I agree with Taylor. Look for another bank. My account is at Chase. 2k balance to avoid 15.00 a month fee and if you have a Chase unlimited credit card those purchases made with that card qualify toward to 2K
