the prices are great especially if you can get something that qualifies for section 8.  But the crime is bad.  The chicago police have a good Web site that you can look up all the crime statistics for block by block.  If you plan to personally manage make sure you have a conceal amd carry permit.

I have a 3F in Chicago and have recently moved to the suburbs and am considering renting out a house in Aurora, IL.

I'm wanting to know if anybody has had any experience investing in this market.  More specifically, how friendly is the city to landlords?  Chicago is its own animal and I've been able to handle it so far, but I'm curious if anybody has any advice or experience renting in Aurora.

I spoke to the town and they directed me to their web site and told me there are annual fees/inspections of units and that all landlords have to be licensed.  This already sounds like a reason to fine people for something minor and I wonder if it's worth the hassle.

What have you're experiences been like?  Andy advice?  Should I reconsider investing in the area?  PM me if you like.

Thanks,

Interested in buying and hold multi family.  Primarily looking in Chicago Logan Square through Garfield Park as well as those in Aurora and its surrounding suburbs.
