I bought a duplex. The frame of the back door where the deadbolt goes in is torn to hell from what looks like a break-in. The actual hole where the deadbolt fits in is damaged. The door still locks with the deadbolt, but is very shaky and just looks like crap as well. The damage also has split some of the frame on the inside of the door.

Looks like an interesting project... how do you fix something like this?

Unfortunately, pet urine is NOT ALWAYS an easy fix.

Case in point -- the house I am fixing up to move into. The college girls who lived there previously owned cats, dogs, a rabbit and a couple gerbils. These animals drenched 1000 square feet of upstairs carpeting.

So I pulled up the carpet - still smelled. Pulled up the padding - still smelled. I finally had to pull up ALL THE SOGGY SUBFLOORING to get rid of the smell.

Replacing all that was EXPENSIVE.

Would hardwoods have been a better choice for these types of renters?

Am I the only one that finds this hilarious?

I was hoping not to. They are in great condition all except for these damn padding nuggets. This will be my last resort.

Thanks. I'll try the acetone if there are no other suggestions.

There are quarter/half dollar size chunks of (old) carpet padding on the hardwoods of a unit I just bought. They are so old, the chunks have more of a hard "gummy" texture to them and are stuck quite nicely to the floors.

What are some of the best methods to remove the padding residue without sacrificing the beautiful hardwoods? :help:

How were we decieved?

I lost you there.

I will have start my own thread on this subject... but the official story about 9/11 has too many holes in it to be beliveable.

A sad day indeed. I would encourage open minded individuals to do a bit of research on the official story. We were decieved that day, and the families deserve the truth and deserve justice for those who were actually involved in carrying out the events.
