This is why they need to have renters insurance. If you do not require it or check it - this is why you force them to have it - to avoid these stressful situations

I make all my tenants carry insurance as part of the lease agreement. They're crying that their deductible is too high and I didn't warn them of the danger. I'm glad to hear that I'm not doing anything wrong here. I was worried I was being unreasonable.

This is exactly what I really want to say. I'm trying to keep the peace but it's so hard when suddenly I'm to blame for everything under the sun. Prior to this situation there have been zero issues.

This is exactly what I did. However, they're complaining they have a high deductible and I should pay. 

My tenant brought to my attention that there was a ceiling issue in their unit. I had a contractor come out to perform the repair but not before a piece of the ceiling fell.

The issue is the tenant left valuables there that were damaged as a result of the piece falling and is demanding compensation. Before the incident, I talked with the tenant about the serious nature of the ceiling. I also followed up our conversation with an email that I needed to be contacted of emergencies immediately as the tenant had initially admitted to waiting to see what happened.

After their demand, I pointed out to the tenant that it was unreasonable of them to leave valuables under the area they knew needed repairs and expecting compensation. You wouldn't leave a car parked under a tree with a cracking branch. However, the tenant's argument is that no one ordered them to move the items so they were not properly warned.

Advice please. 

You say you hate them and hate is a very strong word. But an important one. Listen to your gut. You should not hold on to something you hate simply out of fear of the unknown. Free yourself.

If you're uncomfortable letting them all go, lighten the load and let one or two of them go instead. You might actually find you love the feeling of letting them go and eventually get rid of them all. You can take your money and invest in other ways. Best of luck!

I have an older home that came with old-fashioned storm windows. I was in the process of replacing them a few at a time each year. I previously bought them from Lowe's but when I went to place my order for this year, I was informed that they don't sell them anymore. I went to Home Depot, no luck. I reached out to the manufacturer and was told that all of their storm windows were discontinued as of last December. Apparently, there's no money to be made in supplying the storm windows and they'd rather customers buy new windows ($$$).

It took me awhile to find another manufacturer but the price is 3x higher than what I previously paid and their shipping cost alone is over 2K. Anyone know of any reasonable custom storm window suppliers? It's becoming harder and harder to find certain items for older homes.

You get this sense of entitlement when people don't have to work for their basic needs so they think they deserve more than what they are given. On top of that it creates absolute degeneracy in society because there are no punishment's for people actions because people are more worried about their feelings than surviving. 

 Child molester? Rapist? Murderer? Chop their head off in public. I bet the next person thinks their actions through a little better. Some may say - "oh how barbaric" - but really, is it? It's not, it's just that you are completely a byproduct of the mainstream and people around you. Now if you're on a deserted island and there's a child molester...what do you do? Ban them entirely from ever coming back for life (ie: life in prison) or kill them (death penalty). It's not so wrong anymore is it?

And since we're here - here's the 3rd thing I've been pondering lately...they had a women's work movement in the 40s-60s. This is great - and there ARE exceptions, I am just stating a generality here which is what the rule would be. Rules are made for the generality - not the exceptions. So the govt encouraged women to go to work - this has several consequences (1) more govt income since women are working (2) puts kids in the public school system so they can be taught by a govt made curriculum. (3) Now the mother and father have less time with the kids, and less time with each other. What does this encourage? Independence. What happens when you get independence - well you get people thinking for themselves. Now they can, to a varying extent be controlled by what they see, what they hear etc. What do they see and hear? Mainstream media pushing their agenda. On top of that it encourages divorce. What do we see in those years - a massive spike in divorce. Sure there may be other reasons, but it's too coincidental for this forced independence not to be a contributing factor. On top of that divorce for women is rewarded - good chance of alimony and more child support that was was necessary to sustain the same life style as before. 

So what's a problem? Good conservative men. What's the epitome of evil as defined by the mainstream media - a good conservative man. They are now encouraging men to get all in their feelings, be emotional, be trans and all this other complete and utter BS. 

So you're a victim, huh? Typical! Cry me a river.

Bottom line: if it's contractors, give them your specific expectations up front so that they will know what they are working to.  If it's utilities/municipalities, just be honest since you're presumably a legitimate business, not a shady slumlord.

I definitely agree with your wife. It's an annoying question. Thanks so much for the feedback. It was very insightful and I appreciate it.
