Post: Pre-Con. Condo vs Condo vs House

I’m looking to get an investment property to rent and was wondering which would be the best route to take.

I have friends who invest in pre construction condos and condos, and others invest in houses.

Any of y’all have experience and wisdom to share?

Cheers!

Hello!

So I’m a young lad who has been saving money towards a down payment for my first property.

Is it worth investing this money into some bonds or etfs while I’m still saving for the next year or so? (I plan on contributing to my Self directed RRSP to use my first time home buyers plan).

I’ve never invested in the stock market as it doesn’t seem as safe as investing in RE (I suppose I may be naïve)

What do y’all think? Implement investments in etfs/bonds, or just keep saving until I can put it towards a property?

THANK YOU

Hey all!

I currently rent in Brampton, where I pay $630 a month with all utilities included with some other nice perks.

I’m a young guy and most people my age live with their parents, and some of my buddies have some properties already (condos in Toronto) that they rent out entirely for maximum return.

It is from my understanding that legally you must live there for at least a year, no?

In a perfect world I would like to put a down payment on a home out of town (Hamilton, Barrie, or London) and rent out the entirety of the house, while still living in Brampton.

Is this possible? Is this stupid? Is this a decent idea? Looking for help.

I’m planning on putting my first down payment in my first house/condo next year, where should I save my money in the mean time?

Can’t an RSP give you the ability to take out money for a first home buyer tax free? And also to put a down payment at 5% (as long as it isn’t over $500k or something)

Any info would really help, THANK YOU

Hey all, I currently work in North York and I am commuting out of Brampton.

Primarily I’d like to have my first property closer to my work, but is it worth it in the GTA?

Should I go out if the area and make my commute longer?

Thanks

Aside from total cost for a condo in a certain location, does condo maintenance fees also begin to climb higher when getting closer to main cities?
