Post: Drywall Patching Cost

How much are you guys paying to patch drywall? For example, you make a hole in the wall to install new ducts or a hole to access plumbing.

I see prices per sheet hung + finished but not for smaller patches. Obviously this depends on location, how many patches, size of patches, etc., but what is a general 'guide' you use to estimate the costs?

Next question... say after priming the walls you see errors in the work, do you typically have an agreement to fix those errors before paint included in the scope?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have recently decided that I want to buy outdated properties. Many old folk die and leave their house in excellent condition, just outdated, and their kids don't want them.

I am trying to market my acquisitions to kids who inherit old, outdated, property. I was thinking of following obituaries and sending a letter in the mail (worded very friendly of course), but haven't decided on the ethics behind that. Signs about selling grandmas old house. Looking at records to see for houses transferred with same last name. Any other strategies to look into?

When you go to a legal duplex, what did you have to do? Inspection?

Post: Real Estate Degree or Accounting Degree for College?

Hi all,

I am 19 years old and am finishing up my first year of college going for Accounting. I have only had one accounting class and it does not seem to be that interesting to me, but it is useful and I predict will help with my future of investing.

That being said, I am considering transferring schools to get a degree in Real Estate. The description of the major talks about investing constantly, which obviously I want to do.

While I was searching on the forums earlier, not many people talked about a legit Real Estate major as most colleges do not offer it. Would getting a Real Estate degree be more applicable and help to advance myself or is Accounting a better major?

Thanks for looking!
