I’m active in the Indianapolis market, and find the FaceBook group “Indianapolis Out Of State Investors” to be very interesting reading. (Even though I’m very much an IN State investor)

There’s a “Baltimore Investors Network" FaceBook group. Join and read. Learn from the experience of others. You'll be able to quickly tell those who want to ‘sell you something' from those like us who're working hard to build a business (and Pay It Forward). Many of us strive to Pay It Forward, and seek out others in REI who're trying to do the same

All the best! :-)

Have you read the well done Investor's Guide to Grading Indianapolis Neighborhoods?

The area you're discussing is near the Lilly facility on Meridian.  It's an up and coming area IMHO.  While patching a roof on one of my houses there this week, I was delayed by trucks driving slowly through 'driving for dollars'.  My next purchase will be in this area off Union.

I find the https://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/guide-grading-indianapolis-neighborhoods/ guide to still be pretty accurate - even listing the right C+ areas nestled between C-/D neighborhoods on the eastside.  All the best

Center district - near eastside.  The specific property is in Bosart Brown just south of Emerson Heights

Follow-up:  I found two (2x) Indianapolis based electrician who do meter tag referrals via CraigsList, and one via PM.  I'm getting estimates from each, and will follow-up on the results here...

I've been doing most of my own handyman work, and have sub'd work out to a general handyman / retired plumber who's work I'm very satisfied with.  But now I'm facing an electrical dillema I can't handy-man my way out of.

One of my newly acquired duplexes has been 'off the grid' for a couple of years.  I've been able to do minor interior work, but having to lug the generator around is a huge hassle.

Needing an electrician who can:

1) Inspect the existing electrical panels,
2) Recommend repairs & perform them if needed,
3) Tag the meter(s) so IPL will re-connect the house to the grid.

Recommendations?

I agree with @Ryan Bond 's recommendation above.  CityPlace Realty.

Their fee is $50/month per unit.
