@Jonathan Greene I like that a lot. One of my first jobs out of college was doing outside business to business sales, and my one manager trained us to go to out COI’s but never ask for business- rather keep feeding then with leads for the first few visits. Then eventually they’re going to realize they are not pulling their weight and they will start flowing. Kind of like priming a pump.

Thank you all for your advice! I’m actually on a team. The splits are very good compared to everything else I’ve seen. We have Zillow premier- i just gotta turned on for calls today and already got a showing and an offer I’m sending out tomorrow!

As a new agent, I am doing everything I can to get off to a fast start. If you go read my recent blog posts, you’ll note that I am also doing this full time because I recently lost my job due to COVID.

I was looking to get some advice on what some of you have done that has worked really well for you for marketing.

Maybe a couple things that you would 100% recommend me do, and also some things you would strongly suggest I stay away from?

Also, if you could go back to when you first started, what is one thing that you would have changed.

Thanks in advance, just really looking to start generating some income!

@Rachel S. No offense taken whatsoever, I’ve also had conversations with many close friends that are established realtors and they have told me the same. I was actually a project manager in the oil industry prior to this. I have been applying to similar roles as well as some mid level sales roles with solid base salaries as well. My original plan was to work my job alongside real estate until I make enough to leave my day job to focus on building my business.

I appreciate all advice!

@Maurice Bishop that was my plan originally. Always have to have a pivot plan- mine is the same thing you did. Real estate is now my 200% focus. Keep it up man, I’m sure you’re gonna crush it

@Joe Cassandra great advice. Thankfully the team I have joined has amazing splits and provides me with Zillow premier, I’m starting to get leads coming in already and the team leader is passing me a bunch of warm leads this week as well because she is unable to handle all the business

@James Maradits thanks for the advice! I’ve already hung my license with a brokerage though- would I still be able to work for a property management company?

@Emilio Plascencia yes I actually have found the brokerage I am going to hang my license with. I’ve submitted my application about 3 weeks ago and am just waiting for my license number. They said there is a delay because of the shutdowns due to COVID.

My broker is letting me do showings still which is great to get my feet wet
