@Lucia Rushton BP conference? Well, I guess we missed out on that.

@Bruce Lynn thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely check those out. Definitely, not looking for a high pressure guru sales pitch. Seemed like that *might* be what was going on at the Dallas REI Club but I could be wrong. Do you have a name for the group in Hurst?

There's a group that meets in Denton once a month too. Is anyone familiar with that one?

My wife and I are wanting to make the jump into investing and looking for that elusive first deal! Ultimately, we are serious about trying to make this our full time business. We are working on getting a team around us for that purpose. Definitely, looking to get to some meet ups and start networking. Are there any recommendations on REI clubs/groups in the Denton or Collin County area? We are in Aubrey (northeast of Denton). Any Facebook group recommendations? I'm open to just about anything to help get this going. We are looking to get into BRRRR, fix/flips, etc.

Currently, staying at my day job as an auto technician but trying to plan an exit from that in the near future. Also, some woodworking in my spare time and have some minor experience and have family in the construction industry. So a rehab is right up my alley.

My wife and I both grew up in DFW and have some knowledge of the areas of Dallas, Carrollton, Garland, Plano, Frisco and Denton. That said, we are trying to narrow our search for finding our first deal. Looking in Denton, Sanger, Lewisville, Carrollton, the Colony, I35W corridor.

Thanks BP community, you all are awesome!

@Dmitriy Fomichenko Thank you for the welcome! I'm going through a couple of the books from the BiggerPockets store and I've began listening to some of the podcasts. So far so good. I'll definitely have to try out some of the other features here at BP. The alerts suggestion is a good tip, thanks!

@Lydia R. Yes, North Texas is a little generic. But I'm a few miles north of Hwy 380 and east of Denton; north DFW area. Thank you. I'm sure I will have plenty of question as I go along in this journey.

@Keaton Sherman I can relate to that 100%. I've ALWAYS been interested in investments and have always known real estate to be sort of the ultimate in rates of return. I assumed that you needed truckloads of cash to get started. But reality is substantially different. My wife and I are both completely on board with this move. Having a partner that shares my vision on this really helps build confidence and erases the fear. I am looking to exit my current career and move into something different. Real estate investing certainly fits the bill.

@Keaton Sherman Congrats on finishing all 180 hours of classroom hours! Did you do your education hours in person or online? Have you found a brokerage yet? My real estate investment enthusiasm is the driving force behind my want for my real estate license. I'm eager to get started as soon as I can. But, first we need to make sure we do things in the right order. So learning about various investment strategies and funding options has been my first step. I feel I'm definitely moving in the right direction though. Don't want to be still saying this same thing in 3 years!

My wife and I are just getting started on this real estate investment journey. I've worked in the automotive repair business for many years and am looking to move into something else. To that end, I've begin taking my first Texas real estate pre-license class. The plan is get licensed and be official. I'm interested in all aspects of investing. Doing lots of research on all of it, from BRRRR investing to wholesaling, trying to figure out how it all works. The good news is I'm living right in the middle of some of the fastest growing and changing cities in this area; the 380 corridor between McKinney, Frisco, Prosper, Little Elm, and Denton. Any encouragement, help or advice is appreciated!

@Shashank Gokhale Thanks for this thread. I'm in the same place you were. I've been doing lots of research trying to iron out all the details of the wholesaling process, especially in Texas.
