MEETING RECAP -

Scott gave the group a thoroughly interesting and informative presentation on structuring Texas Series LLCs as an Asset Protection Strategy every buy & hold investor needs in his arsenal.

Plenty of questions surfaced, as we explored the reasons behind establishing a Management LLC that enters into contracts, while separating the Operating Company from a Holding Company for multiple properties in distinct series within a Texas Series LLC. Add a Land Trust to the mix and the legal structure becomes a rockin' shield against lawsuits.

Scott is a master at structuring entities for property deals and comes highly recommended to area investors. Be sure to check out BP podcast 109, Scott's interview with Josh & Brandon > http://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/2015/02/12...

Thanks to everyone for making it out today! I think I counted 19 or 20 in attendance. This presentation will be worth watching again, once posted!

MEETING RECAP:

Carina Boston Pinales, founder and lead consultant for I.O. Infinite Opportunities, provided, for those in attendance, a great presentation on the evolution of the Splash Co-Work space, the entrepreneurial future of San Marcos as a destination city in the corridor between Austin and San Antonio, plus reasons this model will address the future work force's office space needs and ability to network as mobile employees and job creators, at the local level. The official launch for Splash is sometime this Fall 2015. Carina indicated she'll invite the group to tour the new facility, at a future date >

Gibby did a great job setting up the camera and mics for her presentation and lively Q&A. Thanks, Gibby and Lynn for making the venue and recording possible for those not in attendance, who will be able to watch the presentation at a later date!

A big welcome to all who attended for the first time. I had the pleasure to meet Ravi Katta of Orb IT People, at the conclusion of the meeting. I goofed and didn't have a Sign-In sheet to pass around. So, please forgive me for not recognizing anyone else who may have joined us for the first time. We appreciate you coming out, along with those who have attended prior Central Austin Real Estate Meetup gatherings.

JULY 8, 2015 - Set this date on your calendar for our next meeting! Same Time. Same Place. Our own Lynn Currie and Scott Sutherland will address the ins-and-outs of Sponsoring Real Estate Deals for Syndicated Funds (or) Passive Investor Groups

Much thanks to Doug for his Austin-style CPA presentation. He shared lots of great personal stories, along with the new IRS reg changes investors need to be aware of for 2015 and beyond.

Hip and professional, Doug's the CPA every area real estate investor wants to treat for a cup of java. Starbucks, Doug?

Esmeralda & Harold gave an outstanding presentation on how Subject To deals are happening around the Austin metro.

Great job, guys! These are the Go-To pros, if you get a Sub2 deal. They can make it happen, when it comes to the paperwork and contacts investors need to close.

Much thanks to the Rady family for sharing their years of insight and experience, as local investors that span three generations here in Central Texas

This was our largest attendance yet! I counted 30 in the room, and the doorways.

@Jason Rodriguez and all in this thread,

Thanks for starting this forum post! As everyone mentioned, it's high time a REIA group meets regularly in the San Marcos/New Braunfels area. My partner and I had discussed starting an area REIA group, similar to the one I helped to co-found in Austin in January 2014. We finally launched last month. Both support the BP philosophy and are dedicated to networking and sharing info freely, as we do here on the BP website.

The group's name is Comal Hays Real Estate Investment Association (CHREIA). Since Meetup.com is so commonly used for launching new groups, we decided to start CHREIA via the website. Here's a link for those interested in checking our group out.

We meet the last Saturday of the month at 10 AM. We've discussed moving the location from Caffeina's coffee shop in the Embassy Suites hotel to a local office. That may happen this month (waiting on confirmation of availability). You can check the group's page for a location update. Everyone please feel invited to join us. Glad to see all the interest in supporting a REIA group in the corridor between San Antonio & Austin!

@Wade Goodwin  Great to have you with us. Thanks for fitting our BP meeting into your first week in Austin.

@Roberto Andrade  Agreed. It was a great presentation! Lynn's team is doing a bang up job of recording these for future streams. We'll look forward to seeing the links available on our group's Facebook page > https://www.facebook.com/groups/616101995182672/?r...

For those who couldn't make it, Jason brought to yesterday's meeting a well prepared presentation around the topic of Construction Law and "Best Practices" for investors. Thanks again, Jason, for your time and expertise. As Jim said, it was one of our best yet!

We had our biggest attendance this month, since the group started in Jan 2014. Thanks again to everyone for coming out. Next month, we'll look forward to hearing from CPA, Doug Tidwell, on Tax Elections, IRS Property Regs, Form 3115 and Bookkeeping for RE Investors. Be sure to mark the date, March 11 @ 10 AM.

Joshua,

Our monthly Austin BP meeting is tomorrow at 10 AM.

Here's the post:

I also recommend you attend the Thursday Mastermind luncheon held at Big Daddies @ 11:30 AM. It's a well attended, weekly REIA networking event, often standing room only:

Best of luck in your REI journey!
