I agree that if you do the deal, using a reputable escrow company would be the only way to do it, but do you really want to work with someone you clearly mistrust?

I recently saw a post about MLS access. And it got me thinking about getting my license. It looks like after I take the test I have to work for a broker for 2 years. Did I misunderstand this requirement? I have no desire to become and agent, I just want the access.

I'm assuming your asking how to know an area is good. A couple things I look for... the condition and age of the cars...do they have lawn care...are there a few toys in the yard? This shows the pride in the neighborhood and the target demographic for renting or selling the property.

It's unfortunate that good people get a bad reputation cause of prices like this. I'm a door to door salesman...do yeah...I get the same thing every year. People thinking I'm a con-man, when I work to provide a legitimate service for my customers. Some reporters try and cover their bases by putting 1 line that says something about there being legit people out there, but they do so knowing that sentence or small paragraph is going to be largely ignored.

Oh come on guys! Sending her to the one-in-a-million horror story right off the bat! You should be ashamed! Lol. That story definitely has some really good lessons in it though! My suggestion for finding good prices in high demand areas is to maybe look at some smaller markets close to where you live. Are there some smaller cities or towns, that have a specific draw (like wine tours or something) that are maybe a touch off the beaten path. Yeah people love to go to San Diego, LA, or SF, but they also love del mar and Santa Cruz! I have no idea if RE is more affordable there, but you get the idea.

I live just down the road in Yakima, but do a lot work in the Richland/Kennewick area. I would be interesting in networking there as well. I'm kind of surprised that tri cities doesn't have a good groups already.

I'm not saying get an LLC and don't get insurance. You should get good insurance regardless.
