1. Define your strategy - SFH, Multi, Etc.

2. Build your network (attys, brokers, lenders, prop managers)

3. Build valuation models, how will you analyze properties, what are you looking for, do you know the key metrics and comps?

4. Find and execute your first deal.

5. Repeat and refine.

As I mention in other threads this business can be trench warfare, I would take this time to understand what you are committing yourself to and prepare by building the necessary components of an operation, not tangential fluff.

Good luck and keep us posted

I understand what you're getting at and I appreciate your feedback. I'm trying to do it all at once I suppose. I'm currently networking with realtors, bankers, cpas, local investors, etc in my area. I'm looking at houses and figuring out my financing strategy. I know what I'm looking for and I'm picky. I don't want to jump into a bad deal. The market in my area is hot and it seems the deals that I find online are the left overs. I think I need to do more networking and try some of the other methods BP recommends to find deals before they hit the market. That's what the local investors are telling me. The past few months have been focused on learning and now I'm trying to jump in. Branding isn't my main focus. Only part of it. I want to come off professional once I finally do find that deal where the numbers work. I thought having that would help me look more committed to others. This is what I want do full time. My family has been in this business for over 40 years. I grew up in it and this is what I want. Once again, thank you for taking your time to give your feedback. I really appreciate it and will focus more heavily on getting my first rental.

Hello everyone,

I am looking to start my own rental business and am trying to create my business name right now. My current idea is Handel Housing. Handel is my last name and to me, it sounded catchy. I want other's opinions though. I don't want it to sound cheesy to potential tenants and/or potential future investors. So please, do give your unbiased opinion on it. If you think it sounds absolutely horrible PLEASE tell me. Last thing I want is to invest in branding and find out other's find it ridiculous.

Thank you all in advance!
