@Kyle J. Could I ask 1 more question in this scenario?

Say it’s a triplex, I live in 1 unit and rent the other 2.... Would repairs to the unit I live in, be treated different from repairs made to the 2 rental units? Each unit has it’s own individual address, although they’re on the same lot.

@Danny Farrell How has Air BnB been going for you so far? Just curious because the fiance and I are looking at getting a duplex soon, I finally got her on board with considerting Air BnB for awhile before getting a traditional renter in the 2nd unit.

Nice @Clarence Johnson I'll keep at it, and keep saving in the meantime!  Going to a couple open houses this weekend.

Oh yea, inspection is most def my 1st priority @Vinod Dasani I was only looking for GCs in case the inspection goes well, then I'd have a head start on knowing which contractors I'd get estimates from on the rehab while I'm in town.

Sorry, I meant Houston, Texas.

I'm looking around online and not finding many general contractors around the Houston area, do anyone have some they can refer that's is fair and does good, reliable work?  I have a home in Katy that I may end up getting through a family member, and would like to get a head start on researching possible contractors because when I fly out from Los Angeles, I will have a limited time to schedule  estimates and get an inspection. So far I know the major needs would be a kitchen upgrade as well as a couple of bathrooms, and flooring throughout.  There also "may" be a bit of a mold problem, but I'm not sure to what extent.
