Hi Terri Rorek There seems to be a lot of members from Milwaukee on here but not so many from this area. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to BP Arnie. I also invest in Milwaukee and other parts of WI. And don't be afraid to ask "stupid" questions. The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. We all had to start somewhere.

Blake,

I am from Waunakee but will also be at the REI meeting in Brookfield tonight. I will see if I can find you.

I spent all day touring properties today in Milwaukee and am looking forward to hearing @Steve Cook speak tonight.

I live in Waunakee (near Madison) but I am primarily investing in Milwaukee right now as well. All buy-hold now but are looking to get our first rehab under contract in the next few weeks. I would also be interested in the "mentee" side of this so that in a few years I can be on the "mentor" side of the equation.

Steven Hamilton II-

I'll just might take you up on those offers. I'm actually meeting with my accountant Thursday to go over 2012 and to answer a bunch of questions I have for her. Based on what she tells me I may send something your way for a second opinion. And if I make it down to Lake County some time on my way to Indiana I'll drop you a line.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the warm welcome Al Williamson and Phillip Dwyer. Phillip... you have the right idea living in a warmer climate. Today was a Winter Storm Warning with about 6+ inches of wet snow and blizzard conditions. I love the midwest, but plan to have a place to spend the winter months where there is sand instead of snow.

Hello BP Members,

My name is Bob Proudfit and I have been a BP member for a little while now but thought it time to introduce myself. I actually live in the Village of Waunakee, which is really a 'burb of Madison, Wisconsin. Like many other aspiring investors I read Rich Dad Poor Dad many years ago and wanted for the longest time to invest in real estate. The last two years I went from thinking about it to doing it. I started with a group in our neighborhood leveraging our newly created self directed 401ks to invest in SF and a 4-unit here in Madison, WI. Within the last year I've shifted my focus to the Milwaukee market and since March of 2012 I have built up a small portfolio of about half dozen SF homes. I own or have equity positions in a number of properties both inside my 401k and in in my various LLCs. My business partner and I are now shifting our sites to doing our first rehab in the Milwaukee market.

In my "former" life I was an environmental engineer and have a MS in Environmental Science. I've worked in a lot of industries over my career, but it was during my 2 years as a project manager for a land developer in Central Wisconsin that I really started getting the itch to do my own thing. When the market tanked in 2007 I had to transition into IT in corporate as a Project Manager (was PMP certified until I let it go). After a few years of that it just wasn't working for me and my life so I transitioned out on my own a couple years ago and have not looked back since. I am going at this FT and am grateful to have such an incredibly informative site like Bigger Pockets to rely on. I look forward to become more involved on this site and would even like to contribute a guest post within the next couple of months!
