Hello @Jason Merchey

We typically have around 20-25 people at our meetings. The outline we use is we network over dinner for about 30-45 mins, then start the meeting by going around the room an introducing ourselves and a quick background and what you are working on or looking for. The guest speaker will then present and take any questions, after which we network some more. We have a couple of people that come up from SC.

It is a great group of people, please join us if you are able.

Best,

Bill

We are pleased to announce John Maltry as our speaker this month. Mr. Maltry will be sharing his experience in Multifamily and his broader RE experience over his career.

John graduated with high honors from The University of Tennessee in 1975 and 1977 and Barry University in 1988. He holds master’s degrees in engineering and business. He has served as a University adjunct professor were, he has taught classes in graduate school of business and undergraduate classes in engineer. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in North Carolina and Florida. John elected to take early retirement in 1998 as Division Vice President of a Fortune 75 International Corporation to pursue his passion for real estate investing.

To help finance his college education, he bought and sold land in Western North Carolina in the early 70’s. After graduating from UT, he joined American Hospital Supply in Miami as a Manufacturing Engineer and continued his real estate hobby by flipping condo’s and townhouses. Before it became popular, John developed a strong interest in the Art Deco District on South Miami Beach and by the mid 80’s he was doing renovations on historical structures in this area. John was promoted several times with his corporate job, which eventually required him to relocate to Chicago. During this period, John persisted in his investment objectives by purchasing real estate in Florida and the Carolinas.

John is currently the President of Carolina Capital Management Company, managing member of several investment companies and serves as an advisor for Universities and non-profit investment organizations. Current investment focus is on assisted living facilities, multi-family complexes in tax-free states, standalone commercial properties, vacation rentals, and off-shore investments opportunities.

Today, John lives in Asheville NC with his lovely wife Maria. He likes to say he is retired 100% and working 100%. He has won several gold medals in power and race walking in state finals in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. At age 67 he completed the New York Marathon this past November and has qualified for the marathons in Rome and Berlin for 2019.

Johnny, Thanks for the introduction. I will reach out to Colin. Let me know if you swing by Asheville.

We will find one that's a great fit for us. In the last week, we have toured seven properties; we think a few look interesting at the right price. I will keep you posted.

Best,

Bill
