Been pondering the idea of getting into a short term rental (currently have long term multi-family house in northern NJ). Considering Beach Haven West area as it is close to beach but also protected by the bay. Goal would be that it would pay for itself and I could use it occasionally.

Couple of questions:

- Has anyone had any luck with this area? Very popular place during the summer but how is rental in off-season?

- I would be investing in it from about an hour and a half away. Anyone has recommendations in terms of a handyman for the area?

- In regards to running the numbers, is there anything that you could think of that I wouldn't think of cost wise in this area?

Any other general insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Quote from @Kyle Kovats:

@Shawn Mcenteer where is the meet up and when are they? And Ben, I grew up in Roseland and while now I do mostly apartment investing, would be happy to chat and see if there’s anything we can learn from each other

Always happy to meet up! You do mostly near Hoboken or where are the properties?

Looking to have a mentor in the Essex County, NJ (Montclair, Verona, Caldwells) area. Currently have one multi-family property in West Caldwell and looking to scale. I'm an accountant and have experience in workforce consulting as well as expat/foreign national US tax.

Looking for mentorship on how to scale multi-family portfolio and how to secure deals in this competitive market. I also have an interest in learning more about the commercial sector and development.

Thanks!

@Rene Bee reccomend Centanni Plumbing out of East Hanover. They’re all volunteer firefighters in Newark too. Nice guys. His uncle is a registered electrican too so they all work together. Just had them help with a multi family with some extensive wiring issues. You can tell them I sent you.

Currently house-hacking a multi-family property in Caldwell and looking to expand portfolio.

Looking to expand network locally and learn as I look to grow portfolio.
