I would recommend looking along 385 towards Fountain Inn or over near Furman. Both are growing areas with easy commutes. Powdersville would also be an option but it’s a little bit more rural. Excellent schools in Powdersville if that is a big factor in your decision.

Yes our taxes are a little more for investment properties that you don’t live in. Personal property is 4% investment is 6%. If you find a property you are interested in let me know and I can drive by and check out the area.

John - do you live on the north or south side of 85? My wife and I plan to either move back or buy a property in Piedmont in the next year (likely next summer). Would be interested in any property in Wren school district for a permanent residence or potentially investment property.

@Darron Stewart  Thank you so much for all of that. Yeah I have done a lot of research and realize that we wouldn't be getting a lot of properties, but I will gladly take the returns. I'm looking forward to reading more informative posts from you in the future.

Thanks everyone. I am really excited to get started and learn from experience. I will mostly be reading at first, but look forward to posting when I have more knowledge about the subjects.

Hey everyone,

I decided I would formally introduce myself to the site. I am currently a junior at Clemson University, studying to be a CPA. My goal is to work for a Big 4 firm and eventually work my way into a finance department at a Fortune 500 company.

My introduction to real estate investing was through "Rich Dad Poor Dad", as I know is the case with many others on here. My friend (Ryan Koehler) introduced me to the podcasts shortly after that, and I was hooked. The Ultimate Beginners Guide and other related blog posts have been instrumental in teaching me the basics of real estate investing.

The two areas I am currently trying to focus on are tax lien investing and buy and hold multifamily properties. My goal is to have 10 single family or multifamily homes by the age of 35. I obviously don't have an abundance of capital right now due to being a college student. That is why I am mainly focusing on tax liens for now, wanting to eventually work my way up to multifamilies when money allows.

Feel free to contact me with anything!
