Hello, my name is Arjan and I'm new to real estate investing. Sam Van Horebeek mentioned the difference in not needing a property management firm in New York city if looking to buy and hold for appreciation purposes and needing a property management firm if planning to buy and hold for cash flow purposes in Detroit. My question is why do you need a property management firm for one scenario and not the other?

Hello, my name is Arjan G. Amiri and I am new to the Bigger Pockets website. I have limited experience in real estate investment but I am avid in learning as much as I can about the industry. I want to learn what kind of real estate deals are profitable throughout the country and how to do them. I'm interested in all kinds of real estate deals including flipping residential properties, buying and holding both residential and commercial properties, and also building residential and commercial properties. My plan is to start a company that does all of these kinds of deals as well as doing other real estate investment transactions that I do not yet know about. I am currently a biology post-baccalaureate student at Hunter College located on the upper east side of Manhattan. I also have a bachelor's degree in political science from University of California, Berkeley. After this spring semester I plan to shift course in my studies and pursue a career in real estate investment. I will begin to look for full-time entry-level real estate analyst position opportunities on Wall Street. At this point I know very little about how to do deals in real estate but I am determined to learn everything I can so that I will be able to do so. I'd also like to invite everyone to visit my profile so that we can become friends and achieve success together. I welcome all comments regarding where are the best deals located in the Tri-State Area; where are there deals in Manhattan?; How can you do deals with very little money; what books do you like about real estate investment?; what advice do you have about real estate investment; how do you get a real estate analyst position on wall street?; what kind of real estate jobs will best prepare me for a career in real estate investment?; and any other information and advice you'd like to share. Thank you for reading my post and I wish everyone godspeed in their pursuit for great financial freedom.
