Thanks @Account Closed. This is an option that I was looking into. Find properties direct / or find them through wholesale, rehab through a contractor, then use a property management company to manage the property. I am looking for more info on rules and legality as well, to ensure I am doing things right.

I am not intimately familiar with any US market, so currently 1 is as good as the next. Of course, I would have to run the numbers on any property.

Hello BP community. I have been creeping the site for the past week or 2, and thought I should post in the New Member Introductions!

I am new to real estate investing, but have been researching casually for the past year, with a much bigger focus in the past month. I am trying to learn as much as I can, but I don't want to get stuck with paralysis by analysis.

I am currently looking at the option of investing in the US, but am unsure of the exact location (any suggestions?) One of the big topics I will be looking for on the forums are the issues with "cross border investing"

I have been absorbing the podcasts as fast as possible, as there is tones of great info and tips sitting in there.

I am sure I will be searching for / posting LOTS of questions to get things off on the right foot!

Thanks in advance,

Andy

@Brad

 Great questions Brad. I am in a similar situation. Living in Ottawa, Ontario, owning my primary residence, and getting close to 20% equity.

I recently found Bigger Pockets, and have been listening to the podcasts, and webinars strait for the last couple of days. You can glean a lot of good information from the podcsts, however it seems most, if not all, are related to the US market. We work a bit differently up here in Canada, and sometimes it is difficult to find out how different.

Such as, I have enough for a small down payment on a home, but the fund are all in locked in RRSPs. I am working how to utilize these funds (self directed account), find and evaluate properties in the local area, and see what I can come up with for, preferably, a BRRRR.

Getting the initial capital, or unlocking potential capital seems to be the hardest part to me.
