I have to agree with the majority on this as well.  I've lived in the Chicago area most of my life and also lived in St. Louis during some of my college years.  If you learn about the different neighborhoods, you can figure out what areas to invest in "safely" and which to avoid.

As somebody just starting out, this seems like a great idea.  Having the ability to compare all of these TK companies at once would be extremely helpful.

The only thing I thought about, which was also touched on by @Zoran M.  was the average vacancy rate for the areas.

@Larry Fried  - Thanks for the information.  It didn't even occur to me to look below the reply box.

Hi everyone...I'm Andy and I'm from the Joliet/Plainfield area on the outskirts of the Chicago suburbs.  I've thought about getting involved in real estate several times and I've known in the back of my mind for a while that they only way I was ever going to accrue real wealth, or financial freedom, was going to be through real estate.  The problem was...I had no idea of how to get started.

I recently went to a free 2 hour seminar trying to get people to enroll in a 3 day class for the Nick Vertucci Real Estate Academy.  I couldn't really find much negative feedback on the guy or his system, but couldn't bring myself to fork out a ton of money without doing my research first.  I was really tempted to, but I decided against it.  I'm so glad I stumbled upon this web forum instead.  Since finding this site, I've listened to the complete audio book of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and I'm over halfway through Cashflow Quadrants as well.  I've also been reading through the Ultimate Beginners Guide in my free time.

I'm sure I am bound to have countless questions as I move forward, but it's great to know there are so many people here willing to help and answer questions.  For now, my first question is this...how is it that you get the person's name to show up as a link when you reply to them?  I've tried it in one previous post and it failed.

@Erik Niemeier Thanks for starting this post.  I'm just starting out as well and am looking for much of the same information.  Finding this has already gotten me started moving forward.
