Hey Dasha, great question.
I got my license when I turned 19 and was asking myself similar questions. It's a competitive career. What would cause a buyer or seller to chose and TRUST you over someone with 20 years of experience, market knowledge, connections, and a head of grey hair?
I've had so many friends join the business and yet, the only ones around my age who are still involved either have parents who help teach them and feed them leads or they have some strong connection to people who TRUST them. Most folks realizes they will make much more money in their early 20's working a trade. Real estate when you're young is truly entrepreneurial, finding ways to get the business from someone who might have otherwise gone elsewhere. Also you will rely on lots and lots of help from agents more experienced.
My advice is focus HEAVY on your sphere. That's the only way I made a living in the first 2 years. It's tough at your age since most of your friends will not be buying houses anytime soon, so maybe consider spending time with family and friends who are a little older. Meet as many people as possible, be genuine in friendships, and be eager to help with anything real estate related to learn and become an expert.
All this is just my experience & advice from what I've been through. Best of luck to you my friend.
