Uriah, thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to have some validation for choosing this market. I was a bit wary given how hot the market here is right now and seeing the financials for some other markets around the country. 

Daniel, I've lived here in the Triangle (Apex, specifically) since last March. My wife grew up down here, and I moved down from Virginia (born and raised in Richmond).

I graduated from Virginia Tech three years ago (I'm a youngin) with a degree in Computer Engineering, and have worked as a software engineer since then. I really enjoy my career, but want to look ahead towards retirement/financial independence while I'm young.

I really have no real estate experience other than having bought my first home with my wife about a year ago. We have enough saved up for a down payment on an investment property now, but I'd like to make sure I have a solid plan and have found a great deal before pulling the trigger on anything.

I know the market here in Raleigh is crazy, so I'm considering things like direct mail marketing to try and find good deals. I'm leaning towards the $100-150 thousand (ARV) range for the properties I target.

Thanks for the tip! I'd seen a few references to TREIA on here and had been meaning to check it out. I unfortunately have plans during the meeting tomorrow, but I'll try to get to next month's!

Hello BiggerPockets! I'm Alex. I'm an aspiring investor in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. I'm just starting out, so I'm focusing on learning as much as I can right now. As a starting point, I'm specifically focusing on coming up with a marketing strategy and a plan for how I'll structure my business, but I also hope to network with other investors in my area so I can better learn the specifics of my market.
