Hey fellow investors of the Knoxville area! I've been studying up on different concepts/strategies/exits for months after taking Real Estate Finance in college, and I really want to get in and get dirty on a couple flips/BRRRR's. I'm an accountant by trade, with good analysis, research, and strategy skillsets. My background is in finance and financial services, so I'd love to sit down and talk about financial institutions, account or business set-ups, common questions related to taxes, organization, creating systems or spreadsheets that will help you analyze deals or your own systems, and/or budgeting in return for some good, quality experience!

Bottom line:  If you could use an extra hand with a project in town and need some free (but mildly experienced labor), please contact me!  I've helped remodel some parts of homes before with friends, but I really want to see the process from start to finish in-depth, and would love to help you out in return any way that I can!

Also: I want to begin attending the Knox REIA meetings and growing with some of the great folks within the community; can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance!

Welcome to BP! Glad to see you're enjoying the area ;)

Emily, do you go to the monthly RE meetings in Knoxville? I'd love to meet up and talk about business and explore opportunities with some people like yourself!

Welcome to BP!  As a fellow accountant from Clinton, TN, I'd love to meet up or join you at one of the upcoming meetings and see how the area is treating you so far.  Be sure to check out some of the local restaurants, and Grujo's off of Emory is a very good German place if you want to branch out!  Also, watch out for CCP on the stretch between Ray Varner Ford and the Downtown area, as targeted ticketing times are generally near the first of the month!

Thank you @Sam Ruble and @Ayodeji Kuponiyi! I'm working on finding a niche now, and have listened to a ton of podcasts at this point. I went through and took notes in the beginner's guide to REI, and am beginning to progress with basic knowledge. I really love the RE class i'm in now, but it's primary focus is commercial, and I'm leaning more towards residential. I will definitely give Jake and Gino a shout! Have a great day!

I know this is a bit late, but Lafollette is a lower income area by nature, so you know how the possible choices of tenants will be due to that.  Depending on if it's above the Caryville/Jacksboro area or not, the wages up that way tend to drop, as well as number of businesses.  You may be able to get the property for a low price, but it's a steady gamble depending on how far north it is. The area is just too far away from civilization to be highly regarded by anyone other than retirees; either that or a really bangin' house worth the 30min commute to get groceries.  If it were me, I'd consider something closer to surrounding Knoxville, as you have the potential to make increasingly safer cash-flows the closer you get to Anderson/Knox county.  Good luck!

Hello All!

My name is Alec, and I'm new to the world of RE Investing!  I am graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a degree in Accounting and Finance in December, and couldn't be more excited about getting into real estate.  My collateral concentration in college was investments, both stock market and just recently real estate, and I'm looking to put that to good use! I am also a Bloomberg Master, so if you need data pulled on anything that I can get time to get to, let me know!

I have been working in accounting for over 4 years now, and was recently promoted to accountant with the company I'm with here in Knoxville in June! I am very interested in getting to know locals, newbies, and pros from around the globe that share the interest of growing wealth and increasing passive cash flow in the meantime. I love the BRRR concept, and really want to use Real Estate to make a positive impact on the community, both with housing and with the freedom that it will provide to volunteer and fund projects around Knoxville. Definitely feel free to message me for anything, and I'll get back to you ASAP!

Regards,

Alec
