Sam Tang, great to finally have you introduce yourself here at Bigger Pockets! I know the frustration with the cubicle money routine and am working my way out of that myself. I live in Belmont and work in South Boston, so like Paul Sorgi said, hopefully we can connect at a REI meeting. I would highly recommend the Waltham Black Diamond events on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Good luck!

Chris Joy welcome to BP. I too am a young investor just getting started, and have found that it works well for me to break down my investing plans into short- medium- and long-term goals with various stratagies as I move along, similar to how James Vermillion is progressing. You have a good foundation of education by the work that you have already done, keep up the good work!

Mike LaCava Thomas Tibbitts and Ann Bellamy thank you for the welcome, I'll be on the lookout for you at the Black Diamond events and introduce myself.

Mike, I just moved up to Belmont from Attleboro, so it seems that we have swapped locations. SE Mass is the area that I really know. I have learned quite a bit from your website as well as BP. The more information the better! (I will have to try to find that ice cream place though, those mom and pop places are the best.)

Chris Vaught it is amazing how much motivation those little ones provide isnt it? I know for certain that they are the reason to get out and act.

Karen Margrave thank you for the warm welcome. I have actually been interested in development, specifically design/build options, ever since architecture school. Because of the direction the economy has moved over the past several years I have found myself on the outside looking in when it comes to architecture and design. I think that REI will give me the opportunity to achieve those design /build dreams while coming at it from the development end rather than the straight design end. Would you recommend building up from wholesaling and rental properties to something at the development scale, or do you have a recommendation on how to jump right into development?

Simon Wong I do plan on getting involved with at least the local Black Diamond REI Group and another local Boston AREIA. Thank you for the encouragement!

Brandon Turner I am soaking up the Beginner's Guide as we speak!

Hello everyone, I have been snooping around BP for a while now and realized that I haven't introduced myself, for which I solemnly apologize.

I am 26 years old and have been in the building industry, from design to construction, for 8 years. I am currently working in a structural engineering firm in South Boston.

I don't have the assets of my own to play with right now (young growing family and all that) so my slowly evolving business plan is to start with flipping to raise short term capital to be able to get into an owner occupied multi-family and then to develop a rental portfolio.

To be honest there is a degree of fear that goes into diving into something as big as this and I appreciate all the information that is available right here on BP. Now the challenge is not to have analaysis paralysis but to jump in and act.

Thank you all for all the input that you give, its a huge help to us newbies!

Hello,

I am new to the REI community and am looking to build my team. I am looking for an investor friendly closing attorney in the Eastern Massachusetts/Metro Boston area that works with investors and is familiar with assignments and double escrows. Does anyone have anyone they can recommend?
