Hi Mathew,

We live in Greensboro, which area of Greensboro is the house located in? Also, I am guessing that due to the state of the house, it would not qualify for a conventional loan?

Hi Karen,

Would someone like me who is not an investor yet be able to attend or is it strictly for investors?

Good morning Biggerpockets!

My wife and I have just moved here from Savannah and would like to start buying rentals (preferably multi-family).  We do not know the market very well so your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Katie,

I would definitely look into living in the midtown area, buying a multi-family and doing airbnb. I know you mentioned the school district and wanting to be in the a good school area, but depending on the age of your children, Jacob G Smith is a great school to be in.

Rob, how about RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets?

I think you could try looking at forevermark cabinets.

David,

The guys are right. Make sure to follow epa regulations especially as a landlord. I cannot speak for landlords and how that might be different than a home owner.

David,

The most difficult part about painting exterior is the preparation.

Usually you need to "stabilize" the surface prior to painting it. I have successfully used something called a paint eater, made by wagner that you can buy at stores like home cheapo. I have done this on my house that was built in 1959 with lead paint.

I also bought one of those nice face Masks so I don't breath any lead paint particles and for other stuff since the house is so old.

I tried stripping it with chemical strippers and it was the worst thing I could have done and did not work. It's hard work but with the right tools, shouldn't be very difficult to tackle. One other thing is figuring out how to get to the second and third floors to strip/sand and then painthe.

Just my own experience.

@Justin Wren, I understand. Are you looking for single family rentals? Condos? Multi-Family? Also, in what area? I am constantly looking for that multi-family deal, maybe we can work together.

Even if you don't want to and need some additional help doing some renovations for example, I would love to help (not asking for money, just putting myself out there to learn)
