Notecamp Day 3

Dear Mom and Dad,

Day 3 of Notecamp has come to a close. I am learning so much about note investing and using OPM (other people’s money) to provide a great return to them and allow me to help a homeowner while making a great return for myself. It’s truly great when everybody wins!

I had woken up early today and was able to get some yoga in before the camp schedule kicked in. Yoga and investing – my two biggest passions. I was super excited as I was heading back from yoga and heard my name called as the daily winner of a special prize. I won a super cool tshirt and a book written by Gary V (you may not have heard about him – I’ll fill you in when I see you).

Scott and Chase started off our day with a lot of energy and some exercises to help us focus on what is the one most important thing. It reminded me of the book “The One Thing” by Gary Keller. That was a really good book.

The notecampers got to meet Paul Birkett who has bought 1300 notes in the last year to year and a half. That’s a LOT of notes! His company does all the due diligence on them and then offers them to investors like us notecampers. He had a lovely Irish accent and was really informative as well.

Then Jillian Sidoti gave us a lively presentation about private money and crowdfunding. She gave us an outline of do’s and do not’s with regards to looking for investors. One of the other campers, TASJ, said “Opportunity doesn’t go away, it just goes to someone else”. I thought that was so true!

Donna Bauer gave a very thorough overview of many different ways to invest in notes. She clearly knows what she is talking about. She also mentioned how a lot of the same principals work for commercial notes as well. Same concepts, just more zeros!

And then, there was Robert Woods. I’ve heard him so many times on the NoteMBA podcast with Chase and he looks as good as he sounds. He gave us some real world examples of deals that he has worked on and some of the things that didn’t go exactly as planned.

The “Canadian Note Investor” Nathan Turner gave an excellent presentation. It was very down to earth and actionable for the new and seasoned notecampers. I think he was my favorite person of the day. He went through how he “prunes” a tape of notes. I thought that was great information.

We wrapped up the day with Scott Carson coming back and teaching us how to network with other investors. He mostly talked about self directed IRA investors and how they can help us grow our business while we help them grow their retirement funds. There are so many opportunities for win-win scenarios in this business.

Tomorrow is my last day at Notecamp and although part of me does not want it to end, I can’t wait to get back and put all my new found knowledge to work.

Can’t wait to see you!

Love,

Michele
