Once upon a rent time...

There once was a landlord who had a new 10 unit property and 8 new VERY badly behaved tenants. Somehow, these tenants had learned that paying rent was not all that important. Somewhat insignificant... perhaps even optional. This was a cause of consternation (and occasional mirth) in the land.

However, with persistence and patience and more persistence and yay, even a little resistance... some tenants learned to pay their rent. On time. (sorta) and to the P.O. box, in the appropriately designated fashion.

And some did not.

So that bringeth us to this month.

When wherefore, and to the amazement of all, 100% of rents are received with no raising of Cain by said owner. Of course, there are only 5 tenants left, but it would appear that said 5 are the right and appropriate tenants for this land.

And so, the landlord will continue renovations and the subsequent search for more tenants of the same rent-paying inclinations.

  1. Hey better to have 5 vacant units than the 3 "vacancies" with people still living in them.

  2. I definitely love your posts!

  3. I think I'll have two turned and ready for this weekend, one has a GC cooking away and two more are on hold because, truly, I really cannot be everywhere at once. Not that I haven't tried... David Rundle - thanks for the shout out on the vocab, I have to amuse myself somehow. Roy N. - truer words were never spoken. My historic duplex is going to be sooo pretty :-).

  4. Great vocabulary Deborah B. , I love reading your blog posts. Good luck finding tenants.

  5. When you have equal parts wheat and chaff, it plays havoc with your yield, but it provides opportunity to make homes ready for even better tenants :)
