Lessons learned from being a Buyers Agent in a Sellers Market

I typically work with buyers.  This is something I enjoy since it allows me to be a teacher and Coach, which is what I was for my first 8 years out of college.

As the market is shifting due to increased interest rates, and buyers are having a little more success here are some things that I have learned.

  • Be Patient- There are deals to be had, but they might not be available now
  • Be Ready- The best deals are those when something falls out of contract, or before it hits the MLS
  • Know your Market- The best way to know the market is to see everything.  As a Buyers agent I SEE EVERYTHING, the clients who do best know the market and trust their instincts
  • Be open minded- Be open to suggestions and perhaps thinking differently will lead you to an opportunity

Develop relationships built on trust.  As an agent I need buyers to trust that I am working in their best interest.  When markets change, hopefully they will be ready to recognize the deals as they come.
