Well, I'm now on the opposite side of a claim.
This is fun. I had a break in at my house while out of town and I am now on the receiving side of an insurance claim. I previously mentioned I had a DP3 policy. I was wrong. I have a DP1 and specifically paid to have vandalism and malicious mischief added to the list of named perils. My claim is a VMM claim so I will have coverage on the VMM but not the theft.
Honestly, I'm going to change up my coverage...maybe... I didn't have theft coverage but had vandalism coverage as it was a multi-unit with tenants in it. I didn't have much stuff in it when I got the insurance so the greater concern was damage to the structure than theft of stuff from it. Currently I have vacated out all tenants to rehab the structure for resale and live in it now.
We'll see how Foremost deals with it. I'll advise.
