the quote or the cost ?

hi, a house I own was vandalized. It is insured and I delivered all the details to the insurance company, including a quote from a contractor. Since it takes time for their answer I consider having a different contractor to do minimal renovation and pay less. Is compensation from the insurance depends of how much I paid eventually or the first quote from the contractor ?

It is based on what an adjuster says it is worth and he replacement cost.  I would start fixing it if I was in your position.  You have the pics and hopefully video of everything.  The insurance company should have enough information.
