Im a newbie and I would like for anyone to give me pointers in obtaining landlord insurances for my properties. They are in a Class D neighborhood but I need to protect myself against suits etc etc. I would appreciate some insights. Thanks!!!

Hello, I always recommend working with a broker and never having less than $500k in liability coverage on your landlord policy. If I were you, I would also grab a General Liability policy which typically provides an extra $2 Million in liability coverage. On top of that, you could then supplement your account with an umbrella policy between $1 and $5 Million. The class of the area has little to do with rates. Typically rates are based on claims in an area. In theory, a class A area in a hail zone would be more at risk than a class D area with the only risk being accasional burglary.
