Why are you so past due?  Is it because they weren't billing you correctly, or because you simply ignored the bills?  If its the former then you might have an argument for forgiveness or to get on a payment plan, if its the later then pay what you owe (and please reconsider investing in our city if you aren't going to be a responsible landlord).
