I'm just beginning, how do I find absentee owners

I'm just starting out in California and I need to know how do I get property information such as who the owner is and comps in the area. I looked on the property tax assessor website but I didn't find what I was looking for, maybe I'm doing it wrong. Sorry for the novice question

@Kristopher Govea  do you have any connections with a local real estate agent?

Agents can quickly do a search criteria for properties that are not occupied using the public records on the MLS.

Maybe worth making a good connection with an agent if you haven't already and offer to buy them lunch for their time.

Good Luck!
