Real Estate Agent Advice With Wholesaling?

Does anybody here use agents as form of lead generation? Meaning besides direct mail, cold calling, door knocking, does anybody network with agents for pocket listings? How has it worked in your experience? Do you keep the listing off the market? If so how do you compensate the agent? Also what would be the best way to approach an agent for potential "pocket listings" (dont know if im using the right terminology) to wholesale? Thank you guys! Any advice would be great! I have heard numerous investors and wholesalers talking about networking with agents as a great avenue for lead generation.
