Back Taxes on a MLS Property?

BP, 

Got a question for you. I've been working with an agent on a property she listed on the MLS.

After we agreed on a price, she said she did a background check on the title. Anyway it turns out the deal is dead because one of the people on the title is in jail. But she recommended that "I try and see if (I) can get it for the back taxes."    

What does that mean?
