Owner Occupied vs Absentee Owner

I'm getting a wholesale marketing plan together and often hear people say that absentee owner lists get better results than owner occupied even thought there is more competition.

Can anyone say how much better? The reason I am asking is that a list I am looking at for Chicago suburbs has almost no absentee owners vs owner occupied. I'd like to get a better idea of things before committing to a multi month campaign.

Thanks!

Hi Jeff, there are opinions on both sides, I send to both.  Especially if you filter owner occupied's with length of ownership and mortgage, etc. Here's a big issue though which I've spent weeks getting to the bottom of... most list sites have outdated/incorrect information. Maybe you've found this also, but if you're getting your info from one of these poor sources, your results could be way off.  The best I've found after many headaches of trial/error and debates with customer service:  MelissaData.com, Experion, Leadsplease (USPS).

After paying a bundle for a couple lists on another site, and discovering how off their results were, I was able to scrub that same list through Melissa data's phenomenal Listware program and get accurate information, including owner's actual current residence.

Enjoy, Michelle
