Wholesale full time but keep part time job?

Hey guys,

I am just wondering how many of you are debt free, and wholesale for a living but also keep a side job maybe 20 hours a week just for the fun (get out etc) In my situation I live alone and am 25 years old and in a city where my family and friends live far away from me.. I just feel like I am taking a step back if I end up going back to working for someone but the problem with wholesaling is there is a lot of down time and you can only do so many bandit signs etc.. I mean of course I can outsource and really crank it up but I was just wondering if some people keep a side job for fun and to get out ! any one have thoughts?

So yeah in my situation  I was just wondering if keeping a part time job on the side etc like bartending for fun or whatever was like taking a step back.. Since I know technically I can put the 20 hours that I spend bar tending into my real estate business and make more money etc do more mail outs signs etc so I feel it isn't productive with my time. But I do love bar tending and talking socializing etc Just wondering if people keep jobs because they enjoy them part time and still wholesale

Yeah exactly!! that is my biggest problem, I do also the same work out, do a couple other hobbies, but to me I think in the end I would probably be a better entrepreneur/person, if I took on some part time work 20 hours or so. It can keep me on task I think better, and right now all the freedom is great, but the issue is you do have so much downtime, it is actually bad and I think I get lazier because of it as opposed to if I had something else to keep me going! Also people are like watch shows, do other stuff, but I think it is boring and would rather be making money and another income source is good for when you have those stretches of 3-4 weeks when you don't close deals !

@John W. , I think you may just be bored. If the part-time job provides you that diversity and helps you unwind, doesn't sound like a job to me at all. Seems more like relaxation or you're right, keeps you social and sane and even grounded.

I'm not in the same situation exactly but I understand what you mean. It's one of the downside to self-employment that's not often discussed but yeah, there's that challenge. You get bored, you're often too busy running your business but once established, you might reach a point where you have too much time on your hands that you know would not be effective spent on your business but on something else. For me, it's about taking up new hobbies, working out, making time to go out and meet people, especially those who I know would not only be good social companions but also share my interest for running a business particularly marketing.

Just as long as it's something I am interested in, would make me a better person/entrepreneur, I do it. :)

Maybe taking a couple trips would help.. I am just looking for ideas on how to keep your self motivated and on task every day.. Do you guys find it is up and down with your business as well. Like some days your super motivated other days you don't feel like getting much done lol

I have done about 40-50 deals I have been wholesaling now for 2 years, I quit my job when I started doing well in wholesaling, but now I am considering going back for a couple shifts a week just for social reasons to get out of the house etc… I just find life is becoming very routine now that I am established in wholesaling and looking for something to mix it up a bit!

@John W. Is the bartending job your only source of income right now? Or is wholesaling bringing income in for you?  I recommend keep working as a bartender until your wholesaling is for sure bringing in a  constant source of income. If you really love bartending, keep it part time.  I am also 25 years old, working and beginning my investing life.  I haven't completed any deals yet, but am working on it.
