Why are some wholesalers one hit wonders?

I’ve heard a few times of certain wholesalers that only do one or two deals and that’s it.

Is it because they realize the amount of work involved and decide it’s not what they want to do or is something else going on?

Could it be that they ran out of prospects to call?

Could it be that their 5% contact rate careened down to a 2% contact rate?

Could it be that they thought they could get out of cold calling and did direct mail or hired a VA and spent their entire check and realized that they now had to keep cold calling or else give up?

Is it because they never got the momentum that they thought they were going to get and for it to take 4 months and 35,000 calls to get deal #1 and an additional 4 months and 35,000 calls to get deal #2 is what it’s going to take to get every single deal (or else ramp up the monthly call volume)?

Or is it because they don’t get the concept of momentum and if they keep at it, in 6 months to 2 years time, they’ll be at 5 deals per month?

I see what local professional (people that do deals all the time) wholesalers do in my market. I see it on Facebook. They average about a deal a month. Not sure if they also flip or do rentals or something else. I notice that many do. I’m not sure how many deals don’t close, but if it’s only 50%, you’re only closing a deal every other month. At $15k per deal average, that lowers you to $7.5K average per month. Maybe they figure it’s not worth the work. Otherwise, why don’t they all do 5 deals a month instead of 1 where only a couple of wholesalers are at 5 deals a month?

It's the same for most sales positions.  Something like 75% of REALTORS only do less than two deals per year.  One to two deals fall in everyone's lap each year - sister, grandma, uncle, neighbor, etc.  It's the other 20-50 that require systems, constant work, and dedication.
