How many people are you competing with?

I was just told by a potential seller that if I make an offer, it will be considered with offers from 5 other people. Is this typical? Do you compete with more people or fewer people?

Quote from @Mike Schorah:

Are there any wholesalers actually on this forum or just MLS buyers?

Sorry, I should have specified. I am doing DIRECT MAIL.

To be even more specific, my question was regarding OFF MARKET properties.

I get an ungodly amount of flyers/outreach from multiple wholesalers every single week.

Going to go out on a limb and say there's probably nothing unique about where this property is. You're probably competing against others even more so if you bought a list for your direct mailer.

Seems like you got "unlucky" and found a savy seller lol
