Is it this easy for a divorcing wife to royally screw her husband out of a property?

Can a wife go behind a husband’s back and write a quitclaim deed that transfers the property to a joint tenancy and the now ex-husband not have a valid claim on the property?

Hello @Mike Schorah,

What state is the property located in?

My guess is that the husband would also have to sign off on the quit claim deed and this document would have to be notarized (with valid ID proof).

It might not be too easy to do this behind their back, then again... I live in NY where the laws don't seem to favor business owners, property owners and landlords... I've heard many horror stories so this wouldn't totally surprise me.
