Finding Tenants, background checks, creating a lease

Good morning/afternoon/evening,

I am a new investor looking at purchasing my first duplex in Columbus, OH. I have been preapproved and have been touring potential houses. I am trying to be proactive and figure out the next steps after I confirm a deal. My question for you experienced investors are what programs are you using to find tenants, perform background checks, and create leases as I do not want to hire a property manager off the rip. Appreciate all the suggestions and help.

Congratulations on your first investment property!

For finding tenants, consider platforms like Zillow Rental Manager and Apartments.com. For background checks, TurboTenant and MyRental offer robust screening tools. To create leases, Rocket Lawyer or LegalZoom provide customizable templates compliant with Ohio laws.

Also, check out the "Real Estate Rookie" podcast for a great episode on tenant screening, which can provide more detailed insights.

Joining local real estate groups can also offer valuable insights and networking opportunities. Best of luck with your new venture!
