House Hacking in Cheaper Markets

Orane Jacobs
Posted

I am currently house hacking in Jersey City and I am looking to do another house hack soon. However, it difficult to find another house hack in the New jersey area that will make sense. I am thinking about maybe moving to another market that is much cheaper to get into. What are some good markets to house hack. I would also be using the VA Loan.

How far can you go? If you know where to buy, Philly is a good potential house hack market. It has low taxes, decent cash flow, and light to moderate appreciation. Will you keep your Jersey City one and rent out your unit or sell it? What's your budget? There are some sneaky towns in Jersey in Central to South where multis are a bit easier, not easy.
