USING VA HOME LOAN FOR A RENTAL

Marcos Cardenas
Posted

Hello good morning everyone , marcos here ! So I have a friend that wants to use his military VA home loan to purchase a rental. Has anyone been had experience with buying a house with the VA home loan then renting it out to a family. He's primarily looking to do a single family home to rent it out in Arizona. Tips and advice would highly be appreciated :)

@Marcos Cardenas Your friend would be required by the VA to live in the home as his primary residence for at least one year. VA loans cannot be used for investment properties. He could rent out part of the home to the family for that first year, but not the entire home. Then after the first year, he could move out and rent the home to family or tenants.
