Average direct mail response rate...
Not necessarily asking what means of direct mail you use or who exactly your target market is. Although I do know this will play into response rate. I'm more curious as to the average response rate you receive on your marketing campaign, and the average percent of those who respond that are converted to sales.
Example:
500 people mailed. 1-2% response rate of 5-10 people with a closing of 10-20% of those?
Really just aiming ballpark here.
Thank you,
Michael

We average around a 14% response rate on our mailers. If you target well and have the right message you can avoid wasting a lot of money.
We drastically overscreen people via phone so we don't set a ton of meetings out of those calls. We coach everyone to get rid of the people who aren't serious via phone. There is nothing worse than wasting an entire evening goofing with someone at their home if they aren't serious.
We also screen out what appear to be marginal deals. There is no sense in wasting time on something that doesn't meet our absolute return requirements.
