Idea for Finding Distressed Properties

Hey all! I am new to finding flips and have really enjoyed the Bigger Pockets site. I have been "driving for dollars" for a couple of weeks and sending out letters. I was wondering if anyone has done a magnetic car sign that attaches with an advertisement (i.e. Will Pay Cash for Homes/Phone number). Was wondering if a car advertisement is effective? Thanks! Craig

Another idea I thought of this evening. Look through yelp reviews for poor reviews on property management. Specifically those who mention poor upkeep.
My thinking is, these could be absentee owners that may be willing to sell at a discount.
Am I crazy?
I'm open to your thoughts.
