I just listed my home with a flat fee lister via Owners.com. That gets me a local MLS listing, and on Realtor.com and many others.
Sadly, after I hit the send button on the last piece of paperwork for the deal, I saw the active ad, and HIS phone is on the ad, and it's a long distance number.
I''ve tried to contact him to have mine put on--how many people are going to make a long distance call to get a local phone number? Does that mean pretty much only agents are going to contact me, right? How much of a problem is that going to be?
oh, geeeee

ANy words of comfort would be appreciated...

Check the rest of the listing. you may see his number as he is still the listing agent. Somewhere else in the listing you will see a comment or something about contacting the owner (you) directly at your number, that the listing is for a flat fee and that the listing agent is actually providing no services.

These long distance listings don't get a bunch of support from the local agents. In essence, since you are only paying for an MLS/Realtor.com and other internet listings, the listing agent performs no other services for the seller and this throws the burden on the buyers agent. I know it used to steam my broker every time she came across one.

I don't know if this describes the service you bought, but it seems unlikely that a long distance agent would be able to actually provide any local selling, advertising or other local services normally provided.
