Direct Mail, how many times?

I am planning a marketing campaign and am wondering how often do you send to your list?  Say I have a list of 1,000.  Should I mail them weekly, bi-weekly, monthly? For how long -2, 3, 6 months?

Also, when doing so, do you switch up the mailer?  First a yellow letter, then a post card, then a flyer, then what?

How often should I be getting a new list?  I can't keep mailing to the same 1,000 people for a year, right?

@Eric Narciso There is nothing wrong with sending content to your list at al. What you need to do is think about the approach and call to action. The numbers of times is not really the issue it's mostly about what you have to say to get people to response.

My recommendation is to force people over to your website, and allow the site to do all the work. Get them to opt-in so you can send them emails on auto pilot is the best route because its done by the email marketing system.

Try this system and it will save you tons of time and money overtime.
